The Judicial Branch

The Judicial branch includes the Supreme Court and Federal Courts. 

Supreme Court of the United States - The court is the highest tribunal in the Nation for all cases and controversies arising under the Constitution or the laws of the United States. The Court is charged with ensuring the American people the promise of equal justice under law, and thereby, also functions as guardian and interpreter of the Constitution.  

United States Courts - Federal courts have jurisdiction over cases involving the United States government, the Constitution or federal laws, or controversies between states or between the U.S. government and foreign governments. 

  • Federal Court Finder - Find a federal court location by location or court name, including appellate, district, bankruptcy, probation and pretrial office, or federal defender organization. 

U. S. Court of Appeals

U.S. Court of Appeals - The court hears challenges to district court decisions from courts located within its circuit, as well as appeals from the decisions of federal administrative agencies. 

Find a Case (PACER)

PACER (Public Access to Electronic Records) - The Public Access to Court Electronic Records or PACER, provides electronic public access to federal court records. Access more than 1 billion documents filed at all federal courts. The MLIC has a PACER account for docket searching. Please check with a librarian to be signed in. Note too that you can create a personal account as well.
