This guide is for UTulsa faculty and staff to get ideas and inspiration for materials they'd like pulled for class visits and tours.
The topic guides here aren't an exhaustive list of all items on a particular topic in Special Collections. We often have far more materials in our subject specialties. These are just a "tasting menu" with a sampling of items we've pulled for classes and tours in the past. We encourage you to look in our book catalog and our archival catalog for even more materials that you can tailor to your learning objectives and goals.
Understanding whether to submit the items in these guides as book requests or as archival requests is simple.
Items with a call number should be submitted using the book request form. Call numbers begin with a letter, followed by combinations of letters and numbers, and may have a word or name at the end. Our department collects multiple copies of books and published materials, so it's important to include the whole call number, because that distinguishes between distinct copies of the same title.
Items with a collection identifier number should be submitted using the archival catalog request button. Collection IDs begin with four numbers, followed by groups of numbers split up by dashes or periods.
For in-depth instructions on how to request materials for a class visit or tour in Aeon, see our written guide or video walkthrough.
If you choose materials from these guides, select some of the items listed, rather than requesting everything in a topic guide. There is limited space available on the Reading Room display tables, and Special Collections staff reserve the right to adjust the number of material requests submitted for the safety of our rare books and archival collections.
