General Guidelines for Scanning Services
Special Collections offers digitization services to provide access to rare and unique materials for researchers for a fee. We also provide publication licensing agreements for a separate fee, calculated based on usage. This page provides information about how to request scans, asking copyright holders for permission to use materials, and fees associated with scans and publication licenses.
Researchers may request up to 200 scans from an archival manuscript collection in a 6-month period. Researchers may request scans of up to 10% of a published work or bound volume.
Special Collections will not scan photocopies unless they are the only known copy available. Special Collections will not scan copies of materials when the originals are held in collections at another institution or repository.
All scan requests and publication licensing requests are submitted, invoiced, and fulfilled through your Special Collections Aeon account.
