The McFarlin Tower Guild was founded in the Spring of 2025 to support programs and activities of McFarlin Library. While the McFarlin Fellows is dedicated to supporting Special Collections, the Guild’s activities support the other areas of the library. The Guild envisions that its members will include current TU students, their parents, alumni, and community members who recognize the fundamental importance of McFarlin to the academic life of the university and as a vital partner in the greater Tulsa community.
Our mission is to support McFarlin Library as the heart of learning at TU and as a partner with the broader community.
Publicly supporting the Library and its policies
Spending membership dues exclusively for library programs, services, and other Library defined needs unless otherwise agreed to by both the Guild and the Library
Hosting fund raising events
Engaging in advocacy efforts on behalf of the Library under the guidance of the Library and the Dean of the Libraries
Including the Guild in the long-term planning process to ensure that the Friends are aware of the goals and direction of the Library
Sharing with the Guild the library’s strategic initiatives at the beginning of each fiscal year and discuss with Friends how their resources and support might help forward these initiatives
Supplying the Guild with a wishlist each year that indicates the anticipated needs for Friends support
Providing the Guild with staff support to assist them with development of the newsletter, mass mailings, meeting coordination, and Friends promotional materials
